A few weeks ago, a very special former volunteer of Damien’s Food Pantry passed away. John “Jack” Iddon, Jr. 80, of Fairhaven, died Friday, March 18, 2022. Jack was born in New Bedford, was part of the graduating class of 1959 in Fairhaven, and he attended SMTI. He worked for the Standard Times for over 20 years and as Chief Photographer the last few before his retirement.
Jack won numerous awards for his photography. He donated a lot of his time to The Sacred Heart Community in Fairhaven as well as Nativity Prep School in New Bedford. Jack donated his talents and services to Damien’s Pantry in its beginning stages of going on-line. He worked tirelessly to develop our first website and never asked for compensation for his services. He was instrumental in moving the pantry forward in order to serve those in need in a much better fashion. A volunteer who remembers him well described him as “one of the good ones”!!
We will always be grateful to him for his services and dedication. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife of 55 years, Joyce, and his daughter Heather, and all his extended family and friends. Rest in Eternal Peace Jack.
